In our last installment, we discussed a few tips for making your flight to Maui as stress free as possible. Now that you’re on Maui (or are soon to be) here are a few essentials you will want to be sure to have on hand while vacationing on Maui:
4. Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!
One of our islands’ most endearing traits, our never ending sunshiny days, is also one which is best enjoyed in moderation and with a bit of protection. Between the midday sun, and its reflection off of our most beautiful of ocean waters, the warm rays of the sun touch us all throughout our day on Maui. Before you set out and enjoy your days on Maui, be sure to stop by one of the local big box stores, or even the small convenience store at the gas station, and stock up on sunscreen to protect your skin from the unwanted effects of UV rays. Get the highest SPF you can find, and look for a cream that is waterproof to keep you and your family protected while playing in the pool or the Pacific!
5. Don’t forget your medications
Something easily overlooked when rushing to pack up for a trip to Maui: essential medications! The last question you want to be asking yourself when thousands of miles from home is “where did my pills go?” So be sure to pack those up safe and securely, before anything else. It also wouldn’t hurt to consider bringing along (or buy when on island) over the counter medicines such as Ibuprofren, Acetaminophen, hydrocortisone cream, etc. in case you develop a sudden headache or allergic reaction while trying to relax on our beautiful island.
6. ID cards
For those travelling to Maui with kids, consider making a laminated card with your child’s name, your phone number, and perhaps the name of the Maui vacation rental where you will be staying. Attach this card to a lanyard or something else that could be fastened to your child, and make sure they keep it on them at all times. This will give you an extra bit of peace of mind in the event your child is separated from you.
