Dr. Beach’s Top 10 Beaches list for 2014 has just broke cover, and once again a Maui beach has found it’s way onto this fantastic list. Maui’s Hamoa Beach comes in at position #5 on the famous Top 10 list, joining fellow Hawaiian beaches Duke Kahanamoku and Waimanalo Bay on Oahu.
For those unfamiliar, it’s no surprise that Hamoa Beach has made Dr. Beach’s list this year as it is truly one of Hawaii’s best beaches with a number of unique attributes not typically found at other, lesser beaches around the world. Attributes including:
Approximately 1,000 ft of lovely salt and pepper hued sand.
Perfectly situated below 30ft black lava sea cliffs.
Great for sunbathing, snorkeling, surfing, or body boarding.
Lush vegetation, including magnificent Hala trees, provide a comfortable, shaded setting throughout.
While Hamoa Beach certainly is fantastic for these and many other reasons, be sure to use common sense and a bit of caution as the waters here are not buffeted by any reef, leading to some instance of strong currents and occasional large surf. In addition, there are no lifeguards on duty at Hamoa.
So jump in your rental car and cruise on over from your South Maui vacation rental to the sands of Hamoa Beach. You surely will not be disappointed!
