Kihei is full of great restaurants and bars and these bars are full of great local talent, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.
If you’ve stayed in one of our lovely Maui condo rentals, you’ve surely enjoyed the beach, the shops, and the restaurants, maybe even the museums and art galleries. Most days, that’s plenty. By the time our guests watch the sun set they’ve usually been from one end of the island to the other and a cool evening is ideal time to just sit on your lanai and sip iced tea before heading off to bed.
However, if you’ve had a lazy day at the beach or your early morning snorkel tour fell through, you might still be looking for some fun after the sun goes down. Kihei’s night life is low key, most local shows will have only a small cover charge or none at all. To find a great place in Maui to enjoy some local music, check out The Grid in the Maui Time Weekly or check out my Maui Information for local shows and events.
There are a lots of good spots to have a drink and enjoy live music in South Maui. In Kihei, one popular spot is the South Shore Tiki Lounge, aka “Tiki,” where there’s live music nearly every night from 10pm to close and no cover charge. On the other side of the parking lot, Lulu’s offers a variety of local bands and dancing with a great view from their second floor, open air location. If you are looking for comfort food and live music, check out the Kiwi Roadhouse or the Dog and Duck Irish Pub. Both offer hearty fare, rock ‘n’ roll, and lots of fun. All of these great night spots are ten minutes or less from our Maui condo rentals in Kihei.
In Wailea, Mulligan’s on the Blue has Willie K on Wednesdays, Murray Thorne on Thursdays, and local legend Gail Swanson on Fridays. These dinner shows start around 6:30 or 7pm, call ahead for reservations. Our vacation rentals in the Palms at Wailea and Wailea Grand Champions are about five minutes from Mulligan’s, the Wailea Blue Course, and the Wailea Emerald Course.
